Dana White is known to be a very controversial figure when it comes to the proper payment of UFC stars. He was called out for this fact many times by the likes of Jake Paul. However, it cannot be dismissed that Dana White has made UFC what it is today as it remains the most popular promotion for MMA in the world right now. It seems he responded to Junior Dos Santos’ recent comments as well.

Former UFC Heavyweight Champion Junior Dos Santos was also released by the UFC back in March of this year. Before his release, Santos lost his last four fights. After defeating Derrick Lewis by TKO in March 2019, Santos was defeated by Francis Ngannou in June 2019, Curtis Blaydes in January 2020, Jairzinho Rozenstruik in August 2020 and Ciryl Gane in December 2020.

In the end, Ciryl Gane was Dos Santos’ final opponent in the UFC. Junior Dos Santos certainly wasn’t happy about his time in the UFC. Santos recently claimed that the UFC threatened him into taking fights.

While speaking with TSN, Dana White addressed what Junior Dos Santos had to say about his time in the UFC. Dana White made it clear that he stands by his decision to fire Junior Dos Santos because of his age and losing record.

So Junior dos Santos said some stuff the other day that, you know, that he was upset and that I was all about money and the way that he left. Listen, how old is he? I mean he is in his forty’s now. He was on a four or five-fight losing streak and there comes a time and a day where I have to make a decision when a guy keeps losing and he’s at a certain age. This just isn’t the place to be anymore. There are tons of other places where you can go fight and where you can make a lot of money. A lot of these guys, you know, once they’ve built and established their name here, move on to these other promotions and make crazy money. And, umm, good for them. That’s just how it works.

Junior Dos Santos is currently working in AEW as part of Dan Lambert’s American Top Team. Santos already competed in his first pro wrestling match and it is likely he will continue to compete in more in the coming weeks.

h/t to BJPenn for the quotes.
