Eminem celebrated a big day recently as he turned 49-years-old on October 17th, 2021. Plenty of stans wished him a happy birthday, and he also had a big message in Times Square.

On Sunday afternoon, everyone in Times Square saw that it was Em’s birthday. A huge billboard lit up with a very special message to the Rap God.

Marshall Mathers’ billboard featured old fashioned television sets and Slim Shady’s hooded silhouette along with the number 49 to signify how many years he has been around this spinning ball in the middle of outer space.

Happy birthday, rap (and sweater) god!

Some might be a bit confused by the sweater mention in that message. Matei Psatta, a co-founder of TPS Engage, a global ad-tech startup making digital billboards, paid for this installation. He explained his reasoning in a Reddit post where he announced his tribute to Marshall Mathers. It has everything to do with Eminem’s Lose Yourself and a meme that inspired the mention.

Happy Birthday to Eminem from everyone here at Thirsty!

Years of experience in writing, journalism, and digging exclusive insider info for Ringside News opened the door for a new opportunity for Jenkins. With a history in finance, he broke into the journalism game by writing on blogs and other freelance websites before branching into sports and entertainment news. Being in tune with pop culture doesn't mean it has to make sense, but he tries. Favorite bands include any group from Seattle who formed between 1991 and 1999. 5 Ozzfests under his belt and 12 Warped Tours, but his last concert was a bluegrass AC/DC cover band that was not 100% terrible.
