Robert Durst was found guilty of murder and now the judge has handed down a verdict. Durst will never be a free man again for the rest of his life.

TMZ reports that Judge Mark E. Windham just sentenced him to life in prison, without the possibility of parole, in the murder of Susan Berman. The 78-year-old started his trial in March, 2020 and he was adjourned for 14-months due to COVID-19. Now that the verdict is in Durst will never leave incarceration.

The judge determined that Dust could be proven guilty for murder in multiple ways. That is what helped lead him to make such a harsh ruling.

Durst’s legal team tried to get a new trial, by throwing a Hail Mary of sorts. That attempt to get a new trial, while claiming errors on the court’s side, proved unsuccessful. The trial carried on and a very stiff verdict was handed down.

A round of emotional testimony impacted this decision as well. Those who spoke under oath included a family member who called Durst to reveal the location of Kathy Durst’s body. Susan’s son also spoke at length about how her death affected his life.

This is a tragic situation, but it seems that justice is finally being served. There is currently no word on whether he will try to appeal.
