Bill Cosby was let out of incarceration after it was deemed that his criminal trial violated his 5th amendment rights. His time in a courtroom, however, might be far from over.

A woman sued Bill Cosby in New Jersey on Thursday over accusations of drugging and sexually assaulting her at a hotel in Atlantic City in 1990. She was 26 at the time.

Now 57, Lili Bernard has filed a lawsuit against Cosby in New Jersey. The state overhauled their laws on the statute of limitations for sexual assault cases in 2019, and she is taking advantage of that.

Bernard, a former guest star on the Cosby Show, is an actor and visual artist. She alleges that Cosby was her mentor before an incident took place where she was drugged and raped at her hotel, the Trump Taj Mahal.

She allegedly started feeling dizzy after drinking something that the famous comedian gave her. The court documents contain her chilling recounting of events.

“I have waited a long time to be able to pursue my case in court and I look forward to being heard and to hold Cosby accountable for what he did to me. Although it occurred long ago, I still live with the fear, pain and shame every day of my life.”

Cosby, 84, just got out of prison, but that time facing his past is far from finished. A spokesman for Mr. Cosby, Andrew Wyatt, denied Ms. Bernard’s allegations and he attacked the “look back” reforms that make it possible for her to file this lawsuit for an alleged crime that took place in 1990.

“These look back provisions are unconstitutional and they are a sheer violation of an individual’s Constitutional Rights and denies that individual of their Due Process. This is just another attempt to abuse the legal process, by opening up the flood gates for people, who never presented an ounce of evidence, proof, truth and/or facts, in order to substantiate their alleged allegations.”

Bill Cosby is still a rich man despite his legal hardships. He also needs that money because odds are his touring days are likely over and those Cosby Show royalties are also bound to dry up eventually. We will continue monitoring this story here at Thirsty.
