Noted Canadian countryman and music superstar Drake showed up in style at the ScotiaBank Arena on Monday night, making a splash in a fuzzy red jacket. The exhibition game between the Toronto Raptors and the Houston Rockets normally wouldn’t be a big deal, but this preseason matchup had some serious star power in the bleachers.

Late in the third quarter, Drake joined the broadcast team from his seats at courtside. He was clearly happy to be back, as the Raptors were forced to relocate to Tampa Bay temporarily during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Long-time Raptors fan Drake also plays a role for the team in an official capacity. As a Global Ambassador for the organization, Drake’s job is to spread the love for his favorite NBA franchise internationally through his influence as a megastar.

During the broadcast invasion, Drake waxed nostalgic about the Kawhi Leonard-led 2019 Raptors, who captured the team’s first ever NBA championship.

“One thing about Kawhi that I can tell the people, whenever I see him, he expresses like the utmost gratitude and always says how much he misses the fans and the city, so that’s my guy honestly,” he said. “He’s really grateful for his time here and we definitely miss him for sure.”

The entire evening was documented by digital creator Riki P. on Instagram. Drake attended the game with motivational coach K Showtime.

While he was on commentary, Drake discussed his own career as well. The singer/rapper/actor teased a new tour and shared all manner of basketball stories. The entire segment with Drake on commentary is below.
