Jeannie Mai is currently pregnant with her husband, rapper Jay “Jeezy” Jenkins. In a recent YouTube video on her channel “Hello Hunnay with Jeannie Mai,” The Real co-host revealed that she started taking in vitro fertilization (IVF) treatments on the day of her wedding.

IVF is a way through which sperm can fertilize egg cells outside of the womb. It is used so that infertile women can still have children. The ova is removed from the woman and the sperm is added to it. The fertilized egg (zygote) is then injected into the woman’s uterus.

“The very day of our wedding, March 27, we started our in vitro shots,” Mai said in the video. “Went for about two weeks, doing the shots with Jeezy and preparing for it.”

She added that they were told they conceived naturally after going to check-ups. “Of course if a doctor is calling you after any doctor’s appointment, you start flipping out,” Mai continued. “I call the doctor, and the doctor is like, ‘Stop taking your shots. You’re pregnant. You guys got pregnant on your own.’ We got pregnant a week after the wedding.”

Mai did not want kids before. She said it feels surreal now that she said things like she’d never be a mom in the same home that she is now pregnant in. She concluded by saying that you never say never and love can really change a person.
