Cardi B has been an influence for many people. She might not even realize all of the people she has inspired along the way. John Morrison is a WWE Superstar and known as “Johnny Drip Drip.” It turns out that he has Cardi to thank for that nickname.

Morrison’s wife Franky Monet recently spoke to Rich Ucchino about her husband’s pro wrestling career. That Johnny Drip Drip nickname didn’t come to him all at once. It was bestowed upon him when they were traveling with Tessa Blanchard and Kiera Hogan to a gig with Impact Wrestling.

Monet revealed that a Cardi B song came on and her husband John Morrison couldn’t help himself from rapping along. Thus he was given that new name.

“He’s having the most fun I’ve seen him have in a long time. I will give you the origin story of Johnny Drip Drip. About two years ago, we were all driving in a car, me, John, Tessa, and Kiera, after a taping to eat dinner, this 24 hour diner in New York. We were playing Cardi B in the car. We were all delusional from lack of sleep, and all this kind of stuff, and being super hungry.”

John, I don’t know if anybody knows this, but John likes to rap. He started rapping to Cardi B. It was within that car ride that Johnny Drip Drip was born. I don’t even remember who it was that said, ‘Oh my God, Johnny Drip Drip’, and it just became a thing. If you look at the first music video that Miz and him did right after COVID started for that WrestleMania last year, that was the introduction to the WWE Universe to know who Johnny Drip Drip is.  Johnny Drip Drip has been a development for the last few years, and he’s just going to keep going with it, and I’m here for it. That’s the origin story.”

Cardi B is set to host SummerSlam this year on August 21st in Las Vegas. Her appearance hasn’t been 100% confirmed, but all reports are pointing that direction. Perhaps John Morrison will have a chance to thank Cardi personally for that nickname he has used to rack in some recent merchandise money.

On another note, WWE also trademarked “Drip Stick” for Morrison, a water shooting device that he uses against opponents in the ring. There is no word on how he came up with that name.

Years of experience in writing, journalism, and digging exclusive insider info for Ringside News opened the door for a new opportunity for Jenkins. With a history in finance, he broke into the journalism game by writing on blogs and other freelance websites before branching into sports and entertainment news. Being in tune with pop culture doesn't mean it has to make sense, but he tries. Favorite bands include any group from Seattle who formed between 1991 and 1999. 5 Ozzfests under his belt and 12 Warped Tours, but his last concert was a bluegrass AC/DC cover band that was not 100% terrible.
