Mario is a plumber, but that man is loaded. As he takes on Bowser and all of the foes in the Mushroom Kingdom he’s also hiding the fact that he is all about the Benjamins.

NetCredit concocted a list of notable video game characters and their net worth. They arrived at their conclusions by using a clever methodology. It was explained that an exchange rate was determined for each currency in various video games comparing to the cost of real-world items. Once those numbers were crunched, Mario was on top.

When the math was completed, Mario came out on top over other legendary video game characters including Sonic the Hedgehog, Ratchet & Clank, Pokemon trainers and more.

Mario topped the list with a net worth of $805 billion. This estimate was reached because it takes 100 coins to get an extra life and “the insurance industry values a human life at about $8 million.” Therefore, he will typically run across enough currency during one of his adventures to accumulate that net worth.

There is no real way to tell how much a fictitious video game character is really worth, but this is a pretty fair way to estimate. They also did not factor in how much Mario charges to actually perform his job as plumber, or if he’s a part of a union. You can check out the list below.

H Jenkins

Years of experience in writing, journalism, and digging exclusive insider info for Ringside News opened the door for a new opportunity for Jenkins. With a history in finance, he broke into the journalism game by writing on blogs and other freelance websites before branching into sports and entertainment news. Being in tune with pop culture doesn't mean it has to make sense, but he tries. Favorite bands include any group from Seattle who formed between 1991 and 1999. 5 Ozzfests under his belt and 12 Warped Tours, but his last concert was a bluegrass AC/DC cover band that was not 100% terrible.
