Michael Jordan is widely regarded as one of the best athletes to ever plan a sport. Some have leaned more toward a newer generation of stars to take over for MJ. Steve Kerr is under the impression that Kevin Durant is more talented.

While speaking to NBA Bay Area Sports, Steve Kerr made a very bold claim. The famous basketball coach stated that he believed Kevin Durant is more gifted than Michael Jordan. He has a vast array of skills, including “unlimited 3-point range,” that seem to top Jordan in Kerr’s assessment.

“He’s just so gifted. I think he’s more gifted [than Jordan]. He’s 6’11” with guard skills, unlimited 3-point range, passing, shot-blocking — his shot-blocking at the rim, it’s just stunning. Watching him this year was really, really gratifying to see.”

Steve Kerr’s opinion holds a lot of weight, but so does fan opinion. Some might not appreciate how Kerr came about that statement, and like Michael Jordan himself, they could take that personally.

Even Magic Johnson said that LeBron James has one more year to be “the man” before it is Kevin Durant’s league. “I think LeBron’s got one more year to be the man, and then it’s Kevin Durant’s league right after that,” Johnson said. Perhaps Steve Kerr’s statement might resonate with Magic.
