Avril Lavigne resisted TikTok as long as she could, but the singer picked the perfect video to debut on the platform.

Lavigne is still known for songs from her debut album “Let Go.” That includes “Sk8er Boi,” an ode to skateboarding and the boys who love it, more importantly it’s about the girls who love those boys.

Legendary skateboarder Tony Hawk was on hand to help Avril out with her TikTok debut. It was a short video, as all TikTok videos are, but it generated a ton of interest. Needless to say, Avril’s debut on TikTok was a success.

That video racked up 5 million views on Lavigne and Hawk’s TikTok profiles. This video features Avril lip-synching to her famous song, and then it zoomed in on her tie. Once the camera zoomed out, Tony Hawk was in frame wearing that tie instead.

Hawk then did some tricks in his personal skatepark. It was certainly an eye-catching video and a great one to drop for her debut on the popular app.

Years of experience in writing, journalism, and digging exclusive insider info for Ringside News opened the door for a new opportunity for Jenkins. With a history in finance, he broke into the journalism game by writing on blogs and other freelance websites before branching into sports and entertainment news. Being in tune with pop culture doesn't mean it has to make sense, but he tries. Favorite bands include any group from Seattle who formed between 1991 and 1999. 5 Ozzfests under his belt and 12 Warped Tours, but his last concert was a bluegrass AC/DC cover band that was not 100% terrible.
