Bernie Mac passed away far too soon at the height of his career. His memory lives on through his amazing sense of human, but his incredible life story is about to get a cinematic treatment.

Mac’s daughter Je’Niece McCullough spoke to TMZ where she revealed a couple names who are high on her list to play the famous comedian. Both names have acting resumes and could pull off the iconic role, but only one man can play Mac.

Aldis Hodge, from Leverage and Hidden Figures, is a prime choice to play Bernie Mac. He also has experience getting serious as he played MC Ren in Straight Outta Compton.

Mark Phillips is another name who Je’Niece would like to see play her father. She said that he reminds her of Bernie Mac, because he is funny and has the acting chops to boot.

This Bernie Mac biopic is just getting off the ground after being announced by John Legend’s production company, Get Lifted. Mac’s estate is also on board with Je’Niece and her mother giving their nod of approval.

We’ll have to see who gets the role of Bernie Mac when everything is said and done. Casting is underway and they have a couple good people in mind.

Years of experience in writing, journalism, and digging exclusive insider info for Ringside News opened the door for a new opportunity for Jenkins. With a history in finance, he broke into the journalism game by writing on blogs and other freelance websites before branching into sports and entertainment news. Being in tune with pop culture doesn't mean it has to make sense, but he tries. Favorite bands include any group from Seattle who formed between 1991 and 1999. 5 Ozzfests under his belt and 12 Warped Tours, but his last concert was a bluegrass AC/DC cover band that was not 100% terrible.
