John Legend’s production company has taken it upon itself to develop a biopic on late comedian Bernie Mac. The production company called Get Lifted has partnered with the late comedian’s estate in order to create the biopic.

The late stand-up comedian’s fans have been missing him ever since his demise in 2008. The biopic’s announcement was made by Mike Jackson at the 2021 Tribeca Festival, who is John Legend’s partner in production.

During a panel discussion, Jackson revealed “We just partnered with Bernie Mac’s estate to cover Bernie Mac’s story.” The announcement was sudden, and he admitted that in fact Legend was unaware of the status of the deal as it had just taken place earlier that day.

The producers of the project explained that the movie is planned to be a full-length feature about the comedian’s life and careers. However, since it just got into development, details about the setup or who might be playing Bernie in the movie are still undisclosed.
