UFC hasn’t been able to ink Jon Jones to a new fight yet, because he won’t do it for a small payday. He wants to make as much money as he can on his next fight, even if he must wait another year for it to happen.

Jon Jones responded to one fan telling him to “get back in the Octagon.” Jones made it clear that it is taking more time than he anticipated to get back to a heavyweight level.

Man I’m telling you, I’ve always been the skinny one in my family. Becoming a proper heavy weight is a lot more difficult than I had ever anticipated. I want to do it right the first time.

Honestly I feel like the only people that it benefits, me jumping in their early are the other heavy weights. The way I’m training, I’m gonna be a real problem this time next year. I’m comfortable enough to wait and that’s exactly what I’ll do

When one fan asked Bones Jones if he is really willing to sit out for another year, he responded: “Yes, I got a feeling you guys will still be around. The sport should be bigger than ever by then.. Always looking on the bright side.”

It might be a while before Jon Jones wrestles again. We’ll have to see if he signs on to do a fight before then. Getting up to that heavyweight class is also proving to be a harder task than he first thought. He certainly won’t take his next fight for a small payday.

With a history in finance, he broke into the journalism game by writing on blogs and other freelance websites before branching into sports and entertainment news. Being in tune with pop culture doesn't mean it has to make sense, but he tries. Favorite bands include any group from Seattle who formed between 1991 and 1999. 5 Ozzfests under his belt and 12 Warped Tours, but his last concert was a bluegrass AC/DC cover band that was not 100% terrible.
