George Floyd’s shocking death back in May of last year sent at the hands of a police officer shockwaves across the world and ultimately revitalized the Black Lives Matter movement.

Floyd’s killer Derek Chauvin was convicted for his crimes and now it seems George Floyd’s family is set to go to the White House and meet President Joe Biden on the first anniversary of Floyd’s murder according to The Hill.

It is to be noted that Joe Biden already has a lot of history with the family as he has spoke to them on several occasions after the death of George Floyd. The upcoming visit will also coincide with Democrats trying to pass a bill bearing George Floyd’s name. The bill is designed to change the course of policing in the United States.

It is not known of Floyd’s family will will speak with members of Congress during their visit in support of the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act. The bill will be banning chokeholds by federal officers and will also prevent families of police abuse from filing civil suits.

President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris were in support of Chauvin’s conviction and have hopes about the positive effects that the verdict will bring to the overall betterment of the country. We will have to see what will happen once the Floyd family visits the White House.
