Reese Witherspoon is undoubtedly one of the most popular female actresses in Hollywood. As many fans would know, she had a very public divorce in 2006 from ex-husband Ryan Phillipe. It seems Witherspoon had a lot to say regarding how the media treated her divorce when compared to someone like Britney Spears.

Back in November 2006, her divorce from Phillipe resulted in her being hounded by the paparazzi. While speaking to Time, the star also claimed that paparazzi followed her to church, her kids’ school, and their soccer practice.

She also recalled the time when an RV with photographers parked outside her California home and pointed their cameras into her kitchen window to take pictures all the time every day.

”My children will tell you stories about being in preschool and people climbing on the roofs of our cars.”

Witherspoon then compared her experience to Britney Spears, who also filed for divorce from her now ex-husband Kevin Federline in November 2006. She and her children were also constantly harassed by the paparazzi.

The actress compared her experience to Spears, stating that stars such as Spears and Paris Hilton were painted as “bad” while women like herself and Jennifer Garner were labeled as “good.”

“What if the media had decided I was something else?” Witherspoon asked. “I would be in a totally different position. I want to say it’s my decisions or the career choices I made, but it felt very arbitrary. And kind of sh-tty.”

Britney Spears is currently in a healthy relationship with her boyfriend of three years Sam Asghari and she is working really hard to look good for him. We hope Spears can stay mentally healthy for as long as possible.
