Kobe Bryant’s legend continues long after he is no longer with us. He pushed himself to be the best and that bettered everyone around him. His former teammates all have their own personal account of his influence.

Lamar Odem spent some serious time with Kobe Bryant. There was a time when Kobe even offered to help Odem out with his gambling debts. As Odem spoke with Showtime’s “All The Smoke” podcast, he mentioned Bryant’s drive to be the best, even better than MJ.

“He said he was better than Mike [Jordan]. … I said, ‘What?!’ You gotta understand his drive. There ain’t too many dudes that played in the NBA and that really mean it in their heart, like, ‘I’m gonna be better than LeBron James.’ And that’s where he chased his whole life. To be just as good or mentioned with Michael Jordan.”

Kobe Bryant entertained millions throughout his career and that push to be the best paid off in amazing ways. Sadly, he is no longer here to enjoy the real fruits of his labor. RIP Kobe.

Years of experience in writing, journalism, and digging exclusive insider info for Ringside News opened the door for a new opportunity for Jenkins. With a history in finance, he broke into the journalism game by writing on blogs and other freelance websites before branching into sports and entertainment news. Being in tune with pop culture doesn't mean it has to make sense, but he tries. Favorite bands include any group from Seattle who formed between 1991 and 1999. 5 Ozzfests under his belt and 12 Warped Tours, but his last concert was a bluegrass AC/DC cover band that was not 100% terrible.
