Zack Snyder’s Justice League released recently and fans seem to have already forgotten about the 2017 film. Snyder, though, had different plans for Superman’s son. Don’t worry this is not a spoiler.

Snyder had initially planned on making Superman’s son the new Batman. However, that plan got nixed as no amount of internet pressure will be enough to get two new Justice Leagues made from scratch.

You can however enjoy an alternate reality. The director’s four-hour cut is now up on HBO Max and contained a whole lot of setups for what would have been, in an alternate timeline, the second and third films in a Justice League trilogy.

One of those setups is a pregnancy test seen in the drawer of Lois Lane.

In a new Vanity Fair interview, Snyder revealed that he wanted to have a 20-year jump into the future at the end of Justice League 3 that would show Superman and Lois’ son, Bruce Kent, as the new Batman. Bruce wouldn’t have any powers like his dad, obviously.

“It was going to be Lois and Superman’s son, He doesn’t have any powers, and then he was going to end up being the new Batman… Twenty years later, on the anniversary of [Batman’s] death, they take young Bruce Kent down to the Batcave and they say, ‘Your Uncle Bruce would’ve been proud if you did this.”

Why the need for a new Batman you ask? Snyder wanted the Bruce Wayne-edition to die at some point in Justice League 2/3 while protecting Lois against Darkseid, and that would lead to the Anti-Life Equation that we see in the post-apocalyptic Knightmare scene being unleashed upon the world.

According to Snyder, Warner Bros. wanted the pregnancy storyline axed from the film, but the director had shot the scene so it stayed.

We’ve love to hear your thoughts on Bruce Kent. Let us know in the comments below what you think about this storyline.
