Demi Lovato Slams Gender Reveal Parties And Calls Them Transphobic

Gender reveal parties have become the norm for many families in the United States. However, it has also been largely criticized by many and sometimes have resulted in tragic incidents.

Now it seems a popular singer has shown her criticism towards the norm. Demi Lovato recently took to Instagram and shared a post written by a transgender activist, where the intention was to educate people about “belief system that presumes non-trans people to be more ‘natural’ than trans people and how it is wrong.

Lovato noted that the act of announcing a babies gender via the color of a cake is simply a perpetuation to the “illusion that genitals = gender and that there is only two options, boy or girl.”
