Alec Baldwin’s involvement in the on-set shooting death of Director of Photography Halyna Hutchins was nothing short of a tragedy. As speculation spreads over who is responsible, the public has come to the aid of the victim’s family in a big way.

Hutchin’s labor union, ICG Local 600 set up a GoFundMe page to help raise money for the Hutchins’ family. The initial goal was set at a modest $10,000. Supporters have come together to beat that goal by more than twenty times.

“Local 600 mourns the passing of Halyna Hutchins, a Director of Photography who died from injuries sustained on the set of “Rust” in New Mexico, on Thursday, October 21. Halyna is survived by her husband, Matthew, and her 9-year-old son. In memory of Halyna, Local 600 has set up this GoFundMe page to help raise funds for her family at this difficult time. We encourage you to donate if you can.”

The donation total currently sits at a staggering $226,598. Named and anonymous donors contributed amounts ranging from $1 to $3,000. One donor who gave $100 claims to have worked on The Crow, where a similar accident killed actor Brandon Lee. Other recognizable names on the list include American Horror Story fixture Sarah Paulson and fellow production directors Larry Fong of Super 8, Niels Alpert of Iron Fist, and Reed Morano from The Handmaids Tale.
