‘Squid Game’ took over the world back in 2021 as it broke records for Netflix in a way no show was able to up until that point. Unfortunately, fiction became reality for one of the show’s stars as he ended up losing two toes in a bloody chainsaw accident.
According to TMZ, ”Squid Game” star Geoffrey Giuliano had a harrowing real-life experience with a chainsaw that resulted in the severing of two of his toes. The 70-year-old actor was involved in a home renovation when a construction worker accidentally dropped the chainsaw, causing it to bounce onto Giuliano’s foot and cut off two of his toes.
Despite the gruesome accident, Giuliano managed to locate the severed toes (the big one and the second one on his right foot), placed them in a paper towel, and presented them to medics when they arrived. The incident took place in Pattaya, Thailand, where he was quickly rushed to the hospital. Doctors successfully reattached the toes in surgery.
Giuliano is set to undergo a second surgery in Bangkok to ensure the reattachments are successful. Reflecting on the incident, he stated that he was just lucky to be alive but didn’t feel lucky.
“It hurts like crazy today. The doctors told me I’m lucky to be alive, but I don’t feel lucky. A chainsaw almost killed me.
The chainsaw flew about 8ft into the air, hit the floor, chewed up the floor, then landed on my foot, so there went the top of my big toe and second toe.”
The irony of the situation is not lost on Giuliano, who had earned enough from “Squid Game” to purchase a house and subsequently hired someone for renovations, leading to this unexpected and unfortunate mishap. Regardless, we are glad he didn’t end up losing his toes for good.
