Kelly Clarkson’s Ex-Husband to Pay Millions in Overcharging Settlement

Kelly Clarkson started dating talent manager Brandon Blackstock in 2012. Clarkson filed for divorce from Blackstock in June 2020, citing irreconcilable differences. Kelly’s ex-husband Brandon will now have ot pay millions in overcharging settlement.

According to TMZ, significant development happened in the ongoing legal proceedings of Kelly Clarkson’s divorce from Brandon Blackstock. A labor commissioner in California has ruled that Brandon, who previously served as Kelly’s manager, overcharged her by millions.

This ruling pertains to Brandon’s actions as a manager, where he booked various gigs and secured deals for Kelly, including notable engagements like “The Voice,” Norwegian Cruise Line, Wayfair, and hosting the Billboard Music Awards

The labor commissioner’s decision emphasized that, with few exceptions, only agents have the legal authority to secure roles for talent. Therefore, managers like Brandon in this case, crossed that line. Specifically, the commissioner noted that Brandon collected fees for booking these gigs. As a result, he has been ordered to pay his former wife the total sum of $2,641,374 – representing the commissions received for these bookings.

This development is part of the broader divorce settlement between Kelly Clarkson and Brandon Blackstock, which was finalized in March 2022. In the settlement, Kelly retained ownership of the highly-contested Montana ranch. The financial terms included Kelly paying Brandon $1.3 million, in addition to a monthly child support obligation of $45,000 for their two children, aged 9 and 7. Brandon also receives $115,000 per month in spousal support, a financial arrangement set to conclude in January 2024.

While the divorce settlement addresses financial matters, it also involves non-monetary assets. Kelly gained ownership of the family pets, multiple vehicles including a Ford Bronco, a Ford F-250, and a Porsche Cayenne, along with a flight simulator. The legal proceedings continue to get ugly, so we’ll have to wait and see when it will all end for good.
