Kanye West has been spending some time in the Middle East recently, for a wide variety of reasons. This includes him spending time with his daughter North West. That said, West finally managed to settle a longstanding lawsuit recently with an ex-Sunday Service performer over bathroom breaks.

According to RaderOnline.com, Kanye West has settled a lawsuit filed by a former Sunday Service performer, Michael Pearson, who accused the rapper of subjecting him to harsh working conditions and inadequate pay.

As revealed by court documentation, West and Pearson recently took part in mediation and agreed to a proposed settlement, with West denying all allegations of wrongdoing. The terms of the settlement are being finalized, and both parties expect it to “completely resolve this matter.”

In the 2021 federal lawsuit, Pearson claimed that he was paid a fixed daily rate of $250, regardless of the hours worked during his time as a Sunday Service performer. He further alleged that West’s staff banned performers from taking meal or restroom breaks and that he was forced to stand all day due to a lack of chairs. Pearson specifically pointed to a November 2019 performance at the Hollywood Bowl, accusing West of violating California labor laws.

West and his companies sought the dismissal of the lawsuit, arguing that Pearson was not directly employed by West but by a third-party company. West’s legal team contended that Pearson failed to provide evidence of substantial work beyond a few shows.

This failure is particularly egregious, where [Pearson] seeks to impose liability on [West] in his individual capacity without a single allegation tying Mr. West’s individual actions to any of [Pearson’s] claims.”

Despite settling with Pearson, West still faces multiple legal challenges, including a $2 million lawsuit from his former business partners at The Gap, another $2 million lawsuit related to unpaid bills from his presidential run, and lawsuits from former employees of his Donda Academy over alleged wrongful termination. The settlement with Pearson marks one step in West’s ongoing legal battles, which won’t be ending anytime soon by the looks of it.
