Jason Alexander, the man behind the legendary neurotic George Costanza on Seinfeld, has squashed the hopes of Seinfeld fans everywhere by revealing that there’s no reboot in the works. This bombshell comes just months after Jerry Seinfeld himself teased the possibility of a comeback.

In an interview with Extra, Alexander spilled the beans, saying, “There is only one reason for that rumor. Apparently, at the end of some stand-up thing, [Seinfeld] went, ‘Larry [David] and I are thinking of something.’ Good for you. I don’t know anything about it… No one called me.”

But that’s not all! Alexander also mentioned that Julia Louis-Dreyfus, who played Elaine on the show, is also in the dark about any revival plans. He recounted, “Apparently, they don’t need George, and they may not need Elaine ’cause Julia [Louis-Dreyfus] and I went, ‘Do you know anything about this? I don’t know anything about this,’ and I just talked to Michael [Richards] the other day, and I don’t think he knew anything about it.”

This revelation follows Louis-Dreyfus’s own comments from October, where she expressed her confusion about the rumored reboot. “Yeah, I just saw [that news] last night,” Louis-Dreyfus told The Guardian in October. “And I don’t know what the hell he’s talking about.”

So, where did all these reboot rumors come from in the first place? Well, it turns out it was none other than Jerry Seinfeld himself who set the rumor mill spinning.

During a recent stand-up routine, he dropped a tantalizing hint about working on something to “fix” the infamous Seinfeld series finale. He tantalized fans, saying, “I have a little secret for you about the ending… Something is going to happen that has to do with that ending. It hasn’t happened yet. Just what you are thinking about, Larry [David] and I have also been thinking about. So, you’ll see.”

The Seinfeld series finale has long been a subject of debate among fans, and co-creator Larry David even acknowledged this in a 2014 interview, saying, “I know that people hated it… They’ve already written it, and often they’re disappointed because it’s not what they wrote.”

For now, it seems like the gang won’t be getting back together anytime soon, but you can still relive the hilarity of Seinfeld by streaming it on Netflix. Will the iconic sitcom ever make a comeback? Only time will tell!
