Ian Somerhalder Discloses Reason Behind Giving Up Acting

Ian Somerhalder made a name for himself as Damon Salvatore in ‘The Vampire Dairies,’ which won the hearts of many. However, he hasn’t been acting for quite a while now and has finally disclosed the reason behind his absence from acting.

Ian Somerhalder has been absent from the Hollywood scene for approximately four years, and he’s now shedding light on the reasons behind his decision to step back from the world of acting.

While speaking to E! News, Ian Somerhalder, who is married to actress Nikki Reed and is a father to two children, disclosed that his focus shifted primarily to parenting, nurturing his personal ventures, and focusing on launching his documentary projects.

“I stepped away from acting a little over four years ago to raise my kids, build my companies and get these films launched.”

The films he alluded to include his 2020 documentary, “Kiss the Ground,” which delves into the significance of regenerative agriculture in battling climate change. He also meant “Common Ground,” serving as a follow-up production.

”By using healthy soil management practices, we are building a secure future today, or tomorrow. And once you do have children, you realize I am no longer alone here. I am leaving this to my children.

We’re farm people, we produce most of our own food, I live in my cowboy boots. Walking through the farm with kids and dogs and family…every stop, you’re pulling off of trees or off of bushes, pulling up out of the ground and feeding everyone as you’re moving through the farm.”

We will have to wait and see when Ian Somerhalder will make his return to acting, as there might be a lot of projects he could still do somewhere down the line. Otherwise, he is perfectly fine living life the way he wants to.
