The Weeknd is hitting pause on his tour Down Under due to some unexpected twists and turns. The superstar has postponed his Australia and New Zealand tour dates for the After Hours Til Dawn tour, citing “unforeseen circumstances.” This decision was confirmed in a statement provided to Billboard.

The Weeknd had an ambitious plan to perform 11 shows in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, and Auckland from November 20th to December 9th, with opening acts Mike Dean and Chxrry22. However, fans in the region will have to wait a bit longer to see him live.

In his statement via Billboard, The Weeknd expressed his regret over the situation.

“Due to unforeseen circumstances, we must reschedule the Australia/New Zealand tour. New dates will be announced next year, and current tickets will be valid for the new shows. Refunds will be available for those unable to attend the new dates. Deeply disappointed but can’t wait to be there with you!”

Live Nation, the promoter, also confirmed the tour’s postponement and emphasized their commitment to finding a new schedule that works for everyone: “We understand fans will be disappointed, and Live Nation is focused on working with The Weeknd to secure a new tour schedule. We will make a further announcement as soon as possible.”

The After Hours Til Dawn tour is part of The Weeknd’s ongoing promotion of his latest albums, “After Hours” and “Dawn FM.” “After Hours,” released on March 20, 2020, made a significant impact, debuting at the top of the Billboard 200 chart. “Dawn FM,” which dropped on January 7, 2022, also had its fair share of success, debuting at number two on the US Billboard 200 chart.

Fans can also look forward to a new chapter in The Weeknd’s career, as he recently confirmed that he’s entering a transformative phase. “I’m going through a cathartic path right now. It’s getting to a place and a time where I’m getting ready to close the Weeknd chapter,” he shared with W magazine. “I’ll still make music, maybe as Abel, maybe as The Weeknd. But I still want to kill The Weeknd. And I will. Eventually. I’m definitely trying to shed that skin and be reborn.”
