Grey’s Anatomy fans, rejoice! ABC has officially announced that the medical drama has been renewed for its 20th season, which will air during the 2023-2024 television season. With this new season order, Grey’s Anatomy will become the longest running primetime medical drama in TV history.

Along with the renewal announcement, ABC also revealed via Variety that executive producer Meg Marinis will take over as the new showrunner for Grey’s Anatomy. This news comes after Krista Vernoff stepped down from the position a few months ago.

The current season of Grey’s Anatomy has seen a handful of cast exits, including Ellen Pompeo and Kelly McCreary, who played Dr. Maggie Pierce for nine seasons. While Pompeo still provides the voiceover for the show, it remains to be seen if she will return for season 20.

Grey’s Anatomy has been a fan favorite for almost two decades, and the show’s ability to tackle tough medical cases and personal dramas has kept viewers hooked. With the announcement of the 20th season, fans can rest easy knowing that they’ll have more of their favorite characters and storylines to look forward to.
