Idris Elba is one of the most sought-after actors in Hollywood, with many fans hoping to see him take on the role of James Bond in the iconic spy franchise.

Idris Elba has revealed that he finds the rumors about him replacing Daniel Craig as James Bond funny. The actor is a fan favorite to take over the iconic 007 role, but he denied to The Guardian that he is close to replacing Craig, who has played Bond in five films.

“I love the Bond franchise, I’m very close to the producers. We were all kind of laughing about the rumors because they are just that. It’s a compliment, and it’s an honor, but it’s not a truth.”

Fans have been campaigning for Elba to take on the role of James Bond dating back to 2014, and he has been vocal about his interest. However, in 2021, he shut down rumors about his future as James Bond in an interview with ITV, saying, “No, I’m not going to be James Bond.”

James Bond has been portrayed by six actors over the course of 60 years: Sean Connery, George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan, and Daniel Craig. With Craig’s time as Bond over, fans have been speculating on who will take over the role.

While it may be disappointing for some fans to hear that Idris Elba is not likely to be the next James Bond, they can take comfort in the fact that the actor has a number of exciting projects in the works, including the upcoming film “Sonic the Hedgehog 2” and the TV series “Luther.”

Aaron Taylor-Johnson has recently become the front runner, after Puck News claimed that Aaron sat down with Bond producer Barbara Broccoli for a meeting which went well.

Who do you think would make a great James Bond after Daniel Craig? Do you agree with the recent rumors about Aaron Taylor-Johnson being the front runner? Leave a comment and share your thoughts!
