Tiger Woods is a sports icon who has set numerous golf records. This time, however, it was his remarks about tampons that got him into the headlines, not his game. As a result, Tiger Woods was criticized by a women’s empowerment organization for his tampon prank.

A women’s empowerment organization is criticizing Tiger Woods for his tampon joke at a PGA Tour event, saying how can he say this, especially with a daughter at home. Tiger’s tampon moment was not only misogynistic but also tone-deaf and openly disrespectful to women and girls around the world, according to Kara Sugar, CEO of the Women’s Global Empowerment Fund.

The golfing legend was criticized by Sugar, who questioned whether he was suggesting that “periods are embarrassing, or shameful, or a sign of weakness?” As fans are aware, Tiger was playing with Justin Thomas on Friday at the Genesis Invitational in Los Angeles when Tiger hit his ball further than Justin and gave Justin a Tampax.

Justin hits “like a girl,” which is a wrong sentiment. The women’s group laments Tiger’s behavior because he is an adult with a daughter and feels the joke trivializes the significant challenges that girls and women all around the world confront with their periods and mental health.

Tiger apologized/did not apologize, claiming, “It was supposed to be all fun and games. Obviously, it hasn’t turned out that way. If I offended anybody in any way, shape, or form, I’m sorry.”

The organization’s conclusion is that tampons are a serious matter since women manage their periods while competing in sports and other spheres of life. What’s your thought on Tiger’s remarks? Let us know in the comments. For further updates stay tuned to Thirsty.
