The Rock is a bona fide WWE Hall of Famer, and he also represents a long history in the pro wrestling business. His daughter, Simone Johnson, joined WWE’s NXT brand with much fanfare, and now she is a regular on television. That being said, not even The Rock’s daughter is immune to WWE’s proclivity to change someone’s name.

Simone Johnson appeared on NXT as Ava Raine. She is a part of the Schism stable, but this week they refereed to her by only her first name.

WWE made this name change official on their roster page. The 21-year-old NXT Superstar is now just a one-name act, much like her famous father.

The Rock debuted in WWE as Rocky Maivia, a combination of his family’s names into one. Then he became The Rock when he turned heel later on, and the rest is history. Only time will tell what’s next for Ava, but she is only getting started.

The Rock quickly rose to fame and became one of the biggest stars in the WWE. He is known for his electrifying mic skills, larger-than-life personality, and signature catchphrases like “Can you smell what The Rock is cooking?” and “If you smell what The Rock is cooking.” So far, Ava hasn’t come up with any marketable catchphrases, but there’s still plenty of time for her.

You can check out a clip from NXT this week below, and a screenshot from the official NXT roster page to see the change. This will likely not be the last time Ava makes headlines, in the meantime, keep checking back with Thirsty for more.

Let’s get to know each other. Me? Well, I have a master’s degree in Journalism from Marshall University, but I don’t really like to talk about that. I was a stand-up comedian for eight years, but I don’t really like to talk about that either. I write a lot. I once worked for a company that writes blurbs for online gambling games. Those paid $.75 each. So, if you frequent that kind of thing, then you’re welcome for the description for Biker Chicken Slots or Crazy Granny’s Scratchers. I wish I had more to tell, but due to my crippling anxiety and Tourette’s Syndrome, that has become increasingly worse over the years, I tend to keep to myself.
