Forbes unveiled their list of the top 10 highest-earning entertainers in 2022, comprising a diverse range of professionals such as filmmakers, musicians, and TV creators. Together, they raked in a whopping $1.35 billion. One common thread that emerges from this list is that sustained success and longevity in the industry can lead to enormous financial rewards.

According to TMZ, rock band Genesis topped the list, as they earned a staggering $230M. In September, Phil Collins, the lead vocalist of the band, along with the other members, sold their music catalog for a whopping $300 million.

According to Forbes, the $70 million difference between the $300 million sale of Phil Collins and his band’s music catalog and the amount the band members actually received, represents the fees paid to their managers, agents, and lawyers.

Sting came in a close second on the Forbes list of top-earning entertainers, taking home a hefty $210 million. Like Phil Collins and his band, Sting also sold his music catalog, including songs from his former band, The Police, last year for around $300 million. However, it seems that Sting may have paid his lawyers, agents, and managers more than Genesis did, given the difference in the amount he ultimately received.

Tyler Perry, a 53-year-old TV and film producer, took the third spot on the Forbes list, making an impressive $175 million from his various projects and his large studio located in Atlanta.

Also on the list were Trey Parker and Matt Stone, the creators of “South Park,” who came in at number 4, followed by James L. Brooks and Matt Groening, the creators of “The Simpsons.”

At number 6 on the Forbes list is Brad Pitt, who made a cool $100 million. Not too far behind him were the Rolling Stones, who, despite their advanced ages, managed to earn an impressive $98 million from a European tour last year.

In Hollywood, James Cameron, a veteran director and one of the highest-grossing directors of all time, brought in at least $95 million from his latest film, “Avatar: The Way of the Water.” Cameron has been a fixture in the industry for many years and continues to produce high-grossing films that capture the attention of audiences around the world.

The only woman to make it to the top 10 on Forbes’ list was Taylor Swift, who earned an impressive $92 million, putting her at number 9. On the other hand, Bad Bunny, with his massive tour, brought in around $88 million, securing a spot on the list as well. These rising stars demonstrate that youth is not a barrier to achieving great success in the entertainment industry.
