Last year, Netflix released their biographical drama about serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer, which has garnered a lot of attention. The Ryan Murphy-produced Netflix series ended up becoming a huge success. That being said, it seems Penn Badgley didn’t like the way the series portrayed serial killers.

Penn Badgley has criticized the creators of the Netflix series “Dahmer — Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story” for making serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer appealing to audiences. The actor argues that the show glamorizes Dahmer’s crimes and sends a dangerous message by portraying the notorious killer in a favorable light.

While speaking with Entertainment Tonight, Penn Badgley claimed that viewers needed to look inside themselves to reconcile with why they find serial killers attractive.

“We need to look inside,” he laughed. “Now, to be fair, with our show we created something where you’re meant to fall in love with him, so that’s on us. Ted Bundy, that’s on you. Jeffrey Dahmer, that is on you… It’s weird, man. That’s what our show is exploring.”

We will have to wait and see whether Penn Badgley will continue to portray his own role as a serial killer in Netflix’s ‘You.’ After all, Badgley is now a fan-favorite thanks to that particular role.
