Hayden Panettiere is most recognized for her role in Wes Craven’s meta-slasher franchise as Kirby Reed. In Scream 4’s Woodsboro Massacre Remake her character survived Ghostface’s vengeance. Hayden will now confront the serial killer again in Scream 6.

Kirby Reed’s spectacular comeback is featured in a new trailer released on January 19. Tara and Sam are trying to remain alive as Ghostface raids a bodega in the trailer. “I had this secret. There’s a darkness inside of me. It followed me here, and it’s going to keep coming for us,” Sam admits. Tara, Sam, Mindy, and Chad cross paths with Kirby in New York City.

“We share a certain history,” Kirby says to Sam and warns the new crew that “this isn’t like any other Ghostface.” Ghostface has a shrine dedicated to him and the murders and he isn’t playing games this time because he’s after Gale. Just when Gale feels she has the upper hand, Ghostface attacks her in her apartment and threatens her, saying, “I’m something different.”

“She’s come a long way,” Hayden Panettiere recently told EW about Kirby’s current situation.

What happened to her has obviously impacted her life, and it sends her in a certain direction, but she’s still the same old Kirby at the heart of it. She’s just a little older, a little wiser, but just as spitfire-y, and snarky, and all that good stuff.

Kirby was included in the list of Scream final girls following a heated argument among fans. Charlie Walker who played Ghostface with Jill Roberts stabbed her and left her to die. Despite the fact that Kirby appeared to be dead, Scream 4 director Wes Craven insisted that she was not.

Kirby’s fate was confirmed in Scream 5 when Kirby was shown giving an interview in 2018 on Richie’s laptop. Kirby returns to Ghostface’s line of sight in the new Scream. Scream 5 veteran David Arquette wanted to see Hayden’s character return before the film’s premiere. “I think she’s a tremendous person and actress, and I’d love to see her back,” he said.

Unfortunately, unless there is a flashback or a Dewey ghost, fan-favorite Dewey Riley will not be returning in Scream 6. Melissa Barrera, Jenna Ortega, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Mason Gooding, Courteney Cox, Jack Champion, Henry Czerny, Liana Liberato, Dermot Mulroney, Devyn Nekoda, Tony Revolori, Josh Segarra, and Samara Weaving will all appear in Scream 6. Neve Campbell will not reprise her role as Sidney Prescott.

The four survivors of the most recent Woodsboro murders have escaped to New York City, but Ghostface will not let them rest. Scream 6 will hit cinemas on March 10, 2023. Keep an eye on Thirsty for the most latest updates.
