A couple of days ago, Kanye West appeared on the Drink Champs podcast and falsely suggested that George Floyd died of Fentanyl overdose. Although a nonlethal amount of fentanyl was discovered in George Floyd’s system, the cause of death was determined to be homicide.

According to Complex, Ye’s statement on the podcast resulted in George Floyd’s family slapping a $250 million lawsuit on the rapper. Acting on behalf of her minor child, Roxie Washington retained Witherspoon Law Group and Dixon & Dixon Attorneys a Law to file the suit against Kanye West.

“Kanye’s comments are a repugnant attempt to discount George Floyd’s life and to profit from his inhumane death,” attorney Pat D. Dixon III said, adding that the goal here is to “hold Mr. West accountable” for his “flagrant remarks” against Floyd.

In a press release that was put out on Tuesday, the lawsuit is said to be against the rapper’s business partners and associates. The suit argues that Kanye West’s comments included false claims that resulted in “harassment, misappropriation, defamation, and infliction of emotional distress.”
