Arch Manning is an American football quarterback at the Isidore Newman School in New Orleans. He committed to play college football for the Texas Longhorns. He is also a member of the Manning family. Despite the fact that Texas is unable to pay Arch Manning to play for the Longhorns, the university is said to have unlocked the vault for the star recruit to make him feel like the king of Austin.

According to Sam Khan Jr. of The Athletic, Texas reportedly spent close to $280,000 on Manning’s two-day official visit in June. There were eight other candidates present during the visit. However, it was clear that the university was laying down a Benjamin Franklin-themed carpet just for Manning.

The extravagant weekend featured a stay at a five-star hotel, two dinners that cost, on average, over $30,000, and two-parent socials with open bars that cost well over $100,000. Although it’s customary for candidates to visit the campus and hear coaches’ elevator pitches, this elegant wine and dinner event was intended to wow parents just as much as the players.

From a recruiting perspective, the weekend was a complete success. Days after the visit, Manning confirmed his commitment to Texas, where he will be joined by 3-star high school teammate Will Randle.

Manning will enter Texas as one of the most highly anticipated prospects in program history. He has all the tools necessary to be a star plus the pedigree of his last name as the nephew of Eli and Peyton Manning, We won’t know whether he lives up to the significant investment until next year.
