Cardi B put a lot of effort into becoming one of the best female rappers in the hip-hop industry, and her music has become popular all over the world. Cardi recently showed her strong support for public education by paying a surprise visit to her former middle school in New York and even pulling out her checkbook.

According to TMZ, the Bronx-born MC visited I.S. 232 Tuesday morning in Morris Heights, New York City. Cardi spent three years there, and the principal and students both claimed that they were completely unprepared for her visit.

During the surprise visit, Cardi engaged students in a frank discussion about their favorite aspects of school, favorite teachers, and some wise life advice. Cardi also responded to a few of the students’ queries and she gave I.S. 232 a gift at the end of her visit with a $100,000 donation that she wishes to see used for after-school activities like tutoring and music/dance classes.

When Cardi made the donation, the students cheered wildly and the teachers and officials nearly broke down in tears. Cardi’s drop-in is a part of her tour with Community Capacity Development, a non-profit organization based in Queens. Stay tuned to Thirsty for more updates.
