Harry Styles is without a doubt one of the most well-known musicians in the industry right now, with multiple hit singles under his belt. Florence Pugh recently stated that she is upset about Olivia Wilde and Harry Styles’ relationship. The pair has finally addressed the negativity that has surrounded their relationship.

While speaking to Rolling Stone, Olivia Wilde expressed that she does not feel Harry Styles’ fan base is defined by the “hateful energy” directed at her in certain areas of the internet. The pair discussed some of the “toxic negativity” that has surrounded their much-discussed romance. The two met on the set of Wilde’s “Don’t Worry Darling,” which is already garnering awards buzz for Styles’ acting efforts, and later broke the internet when they were seen holding hands at a wedding in January 2021.

The timing, which appeared to some fans online to be suspiciously close to Wilde’s breakup from Jason Sudeikis, their age gap (she is ten years his senior), and Wilde being Styles’ “boss” as director of “Don’t Worry Darling” were all weaponized in an online assault. Then there were even nastier assaults on Wilde, involving her dancing and people bringing up old quotes and jokes from her past, which Styles plainly despises. He thinks of Twitter as “a sh*tstorm of people trying to be awful to people.”

“It’s obviously a difficult feeling to feel like being close to me means you’re at the ransom of a corner of Twitter or something,” Styles says. “I just wanted to sing. I didn’t want to get into it if I was going to hurt people like that.” Meanwhile, Wilde claims that the majority of her boyfriend’s fans are “deeply loving people.”

“What I don’t understand about the cruelty you’re referencing is that that kind of toxic negativity is the antithesis of Harry, and everything he puts out there. I don’t personally believe the hateful energy defines his fan base at all. The majority of them are true champions of kindness.”

“Don’t Worry, Darling” will be released in theaters on September 23rd. In the meantime, it seems that those two lovebirds will continue going strong. To get the latest updates, keep an eye on Thirsty.
