“Game Of Thrones” was a pop culture phenomenon that took the world by storm since its first episode back in 2011. “Game of Thrones” spinoff “House of the Dragon” will be dropping this week and fans couldn’t be more excited. HBO also dropped a lot of money for marketing the show.

“House of the Dragon” recounts tales of the House Targaryen around 200 years before Danaerys first appears. It is the first spinoff of the popular series, and early reviews have been mixed.

According to a report by Deadline, HBO spent over $100 million on House of the Dragon’s marketing campaign, with the majority of that money comprised of a combination of ad spot value and real money spent.

The House of the Dragon campaign is really about generating big, broad awareness and interest throughout the summer, but to also make sure we’re signaling to existing fans as well as new fans alike that this is a new Game of Thrones story coming to HBO Max.”

We will have to wait and see how the prequel series will be received by fans. Fans haven’t forgotten the debacle that was the final season of ‘Game Of Thrones,’ so it is likely they are very skeptical right now.
