Many actors have donned the red cape and played Superman, but Warner Bros reportedly has their eye on one of those men to make a return. Henry Cavill is regarded as a supreme Superman by The Rock, and Warner Bros apparently agrees.
A new report claims that Warner Bros. recently reached out to Henry Cavill to bring him back into the DCEU as Superman. The actor stared in 2013 with Man of Steel that kicked off DC’s own interconnected superhero franchise in order to rival Marvel. A lot has changed, with Warner Bros. Discovery now implementing another shift in strategy with the film franchise.
Warner Bros. released a new statement about a brand new strategy for the DC Comics brand, which also includes laying out a 10-year blueprint, similar to what Marvel Studios has with the MCU. That comes on the heels of the management change over at the studio and the decision to cancel Batgirl, a $90-million film, that was already near completion.
During a conversation between Fandango’s Erik Davis and The Wrap’s Umberto Gonzalez on Twitter Spaces, it was revealed that Warner Bros. tried reaching out to Cavill to put on the red cape again. Sadly, Cavill supposedly isn’t interested.
What have you heard about Henry lately, I’ve heard a story that they’ve asked him, and he doesn’t want to do it, he doesn’t want to come back.
It is a surprise if Cavill rejected a return to the franchise. However, the shakeup to the DCEU left his iteration of Superman up in the air. Henry continues to say that he still owns the mantle, keeping fans optimistic about his eventual return. For the past few years, there were talks of Superman reboot was announced, along with a Supergirl project. Let’s hope a deal is reached, so Cavill can fly again.
