James Franco has been in a number of roles that gave him an acting challenge. Now, Franco is gearing up to take on the part of one of the most notorious men to ever walk the planet.

Deadline reports that Franco will play the late Cuban leader Fidel Castro in the upcoming film “Aline of Cuba.” Miguel Bardem will direct the project, with Mia Maestro playing Castro’s one-time mistress.

The 44-year-old Oscar-nominated actor will be joined by Ana Villafañe in the role of Alina Fernandez, daughter of Castro and Revuelta. Jose Rivera and Nilo Cruz wrote the script for this upcoming film.

Franco was spotted in Italy in June, but it’s unknown if it was related to this project. James has also been working on the HBO series, “The Deuce” as he repairs his acting career.

It seems that he is repairing some of that reputation, but Seth Rogen has made it clear that he has no interest in working with him again.
