Nicki Minaj’s Fan Left Her Speechless After Mistaking Her For Trina

Nicki Minaj is undoubtedly one of the most well-known artists in the music industry. However, some admirers still mistake her for other people, like fellow rapper Trina.

The Young Money hitmaker shared a video on TikTok on Wednesday in which she detailed a recent interaction with a fan who mistook her for the rapper Trina. As Minaj said, she quickly ran to the store after a meeting when the incident of mistaken identity occurred.

“Y’all, I just came back from this meeting, right? On my way home, I asked the driver to drop me off at this store. I get in the store and I pick up a couple of things. I look exactly like this. I go up to the cash register and the man at the register, he start looking at me like, you know, he didn’t want to blow my cover, ’cause there’s other people waiting right behind me in the store.

So I lean in ’cause it’s clear that he’s trying to tell me something and I don’t want to talk too loud. He was so serious, but he was mad excited. So I’m like, ‘Of course, global icon superstar.’ I’m thinking in my head, ‘It’s okay.’ He leans in and with all seriousness he said, ‘I been listening to you all day.’”

The cashier then said, “That old school shit is my favorite,” which confused Nicki because she isn’t recognized as a part of that generation. The moment the cashier referred to Trina’s collaborations with Trick Daddy as “That one with you and Trick Daddy,” the confusion was understandable. Nicki ended the video by imitating the expression she gave the cashier by uttering a loud “sir.”

Trina and Minaj collaborated on the 2019 song “BAPS,” which was a remix of the classic “Project Bitch” by Cash Money from 2000. However, things took a turn for the worst when Trina’s A&R, Reginald Saunders, accused Nicki of neglecting to promote the song. During a Queen radio episode, Nicki reacted and said they were at fault. On Instagram Live, Trina later took complete responsibility for the mistake.
