Vince Carter was one of the most exciting players in the NBA during his lengthy career. His trademark poster dunks made him one of the flashiest stars of his era. Vince retired after the 2019-20 season and has since been enjoying a quiet life with his wife and two children.

On Father’s Day, that peaceful existence was interrupted. Thieves broke into Carter’s home and burglarized nearly $100,000. Vince Carter’s family was home at the time, adding to the terror of the incident.

TMZ Sports obtained a police report from the Atlanta PD. It revealed that the suspects broke in at around 11:50 PM on June 19. Carter’s wife Sondi and her two sons were lying in bed at the time.

Sondi told police she heard people going through her belongings in different rooms. An off-duty Atlanta officer was the first to arrive at Vince Carter’s home. He saw a man with a mask and all-black clothes fleeing before getting into an SUV and speeding off.

A short time later, additional officers arrived on the scene. They noted that the front window of the home was broken. They found $16,100 in $100 bills scattered outside the house. Vince Carter identified the money and said it was just a small portion of $100,000 that he had stashed in a bag in the closet. Two guns were also found outside.

Fortunately, nobody was injured in the scary break-in. Police are still investigating and looking for suspects. It was a very scary moment for Vince Carter’s family, and one in a long string of recent celebrity burglaries.
