Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and CM Punk had their fair share of beef in the past, but they have both moved on from that point in their lives. Both stars went on to achieve tremendous success in the professional wrestling scene. Former WWE writer Matt McCarthy recently revealed that CM Punk had problems delivering a promo about The Rock during their rivalry in 2013.

The Rock ended Punk’s 434-day WWE Championship reign at the 2013 Royal Rumble. A month later, The Great One defeated John Cena in a rematch at Elimination Chamber, setting up a second consecutive WrestleMania main event. McCarthy recalled Punk’s reaction when he was given a script he didn’t like.

I remember Punk being handed a promo about The Rock and him refusing to [say it]. He’s like, ‘So now I’ve got to f*cking put over The Rock? F*ck that.’ I remember that happening. I don’t recall anyone walking out per se.

Punk wanted to be a part of the main event at WrestleMania 29 between John Cena and The Rock. He was instead scheduled to lose to The Undertaker in what would be his final WrestleMania match. During a Starrcast Q&A panel in 2019, Punk stated that he did not want his epic title reign to end against a part-timer.

CM Punk voiced his displeasure before reaching an arrangement with his on-screen adversary. The two-time WWE Champion apologized to The Rock after the incident. They are now on good terms after the Hollywood celebrity accepted his apologies. It’s good to see that this situation is water under the bridge now, and you can keep checking back with Thirsty for more!
