CNN has seen much better days and the network is also going through a shift. Following the dramatic downfall of its streaming network, CNN+, the company accidentally delivered gift baskets to employees who were fired.

Radar Online reports that CNN unintentionally delivered welcome baskets to employees who were fired following the dramatic demise of CNN+. In the latest embarrassing mishap for the cable company, red-faced executives revealed that the baskets, which featured branded gear, pens, headphones, and a popcorn machine, were delivered by “mistake.”

A note attached to the gift stated, “This is an incredible time to be part of CNN.” The note also added, “Build relationships and take time to connect with colleagues and learn so that you make the most of your time here.” Hundreds of staff members were laid off, and those gift baskets were probably very confusing to receive.

As previously reported, employees were enraged with network executives after the $5.99 per month service lasted only one month. To make matters worse, the network’s top executives mingled at a high-priced social event held in conjunction with the White House Correspondents Dinner in the weeks following the shutdown. “It’s nuts. The network never ceases to amaze, doesn’t it?” one displaced CNN staffer said after the event.

“Here they are spending gobs of money on a ‘hangover’ brunch to close out WHCD weekend. Management is tone-deaf. Then again, frugal spending isn’t really their forte.”

Those CNN+ gift baskets are just the latest saga involving the network. Its boss, Jeff Zucker, resigned in February after an exposé revealed his secret romance with the network’s then-Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer, Allison Gollust. Both Zucker and Gollust were fired after an internal inquiry determined that they violated company rules by neglecting to report their romance.

CNN+’s last day of operation was April 28th. CNN+ logos were quickly removed from the floor, according to employees. A huge CNN+ sculpture has been replaced by one for HBO Max. You can check out the new sculpture below. To get the latest updates, keep an eye on Thirsty.
