Keanu Reeves started his acting career in theatre and television films before making his feature film debut in Youngblood. Decades later, Reeves made another comeback in 2014 as the titular assassin in the John Wick film series and this was after his career blew up once again as Neo in 1999’s The Matrix.

Before closing out CinemaCon last month by charming theatre owners from the Colosseum stage, Keanu Reeves and Chad Stahelski walked the red carpet inside Caesars Palace. They told The Hollywood Reporter that they had a simple goal for John Wick: Chapter 4.

We keep finding new and interesting ways to have John Wick suffer. That’s where the action comes from. Figure out how to make him suffer, and then design backward.

Filmmaker and longtime stunt expert Stahelski spoke about the Lionsgate franchise. It has grossed $579 million worldwide thanks to Reeves doing much of his own stunt work and fight choreography alongside Stahelski. Naturally, some of those concepts came from Reeves.

Neither admitted to using nunchucks as a weapon in Chapter 4, and they were equally tight-lipped about whether this one, due out March 24, 2023, would be their final. “We just take it one at a time,” Reeves explained. They do it chapter by chapter. Just like an author; write the chapter, scratch head, write next chapter.
