Du’Vonta Lampkin was a standout defensive tackle for the Oklahoma Sooners. Lampkin decided to forego the last two years of his college career and give the NFL a shot after deciding school was not for him. Sadly, Dallas Police found Du’Vonta dead in his residence from a single gunshot wound.

TMZ reported the sad news. Lampkin was a talented athlete who had stints with both the Baltimore Ravens and the Tennessee Titans. Police responded after a witness said he had stopped answering his phone.

Medical personnel showed up shortly after he was discovered by the police. Efforts to rescue him were unsuccessful. Du’Vonta Lampkin died at the scene.

There are no further details on the shooting. Dallas Police are currently investigating. Anybody with information on what may have happened is asked to get in touch with the department.

The Oklahoma Football program remembered Du’Vonta in a tweet. They said he will be fondly remembered as a supportive teammate who was full of spirit. Lampkin played in 15 games for the Sooners before going unselected in the NFL Draft.
