There have been plenty of stories about violence in baseball this spring. The Major Leagues have seen a rash of brawls among fans. The latest fiasco in the sport involves a potentially deadly sabotage against a collegiate baseball team.

Kansas Wesleyan University has filed an incident report with the Lindsborg PD. Multiple unnamed people were named is victims in a bizarre attack against the baseball team. The KWU water cooler was allegedly spiked with paint thinner, according to TMZ.

An unofficial Twitter account related to the team posted a photo on Sunday of a water cooler filled with an unknown substance. The tweet claims it is paint thinner. The post also includes a hashtag alluding to the fact that a rival school may have been involved.

“Putting PAINT THINNER in our water coolers to get our baseball players sick and still getting toasted by 31 runs is WILD. Stay classy! Glad all our players are okay #buckfethany”

Bethany College is not named in the police report. There were several people who became ill. Charges named in the report include contaminating food/water sources, battery, recklessly causing bodily harm, and criminal damage to property.

Both Kansas Wesleyan and Bethany College have been cooperating with the ongoing police investigation. Representatives from both schools have said the safety of student athletes is the top priority. We will have to wait and see if this really was a case of sabotage.
