Jim Ross is known to millions of fans as the voice of professional wrestling. JR and Jerry “The King” Lawler brought Monday night action into the homes of fans together for decades. One of the biggest stars made during Jim’s tenure with WWE was Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.

JR and The Rock go way back, but the history of professional wrestling precedes them both. Back before national promotions like WWE and AEW, wrestling had a territory system where regional promoters would put on shows and talent would be shared between them. Johnson and Ross are now teaming up to relive those days.

On the latest episode of “Grilling JR,” Ross talked about the project. JR and The Rock will be taking a look at wrestling’s old-time territory days. Ross was not sure what platform the documentary would land on, but he is very excited.

“I’m going to be doing some work with Rock’s company coming up soon. We’re going to go back and look at the territories. I’m not sure of the platform that it’s going to be airing on, but I was really happy to have the opportunity to participate.

It will be a nice little gig. I think I’m going to be joined by Jake, Michael Hayes, and Ted DiBiase. We’re going to look at the Mid-South territory first, so it should be fun.”

Wrestling fans are going to get to take a trip back to the past with one of the sport’s greatest stars and one of the men who lived through it. The stories from JR should be second-to-none. This should be a fascinating glimpse into the past of a very unique business.
