Netflix provides a film and television series library through distribution deals as well as original productions known as Netflix Originals. The streaming powerhouse is currently losing a significant number of subscribers. According to recent reports, Netflix spent $30 million on each episode of Stranger Things.

According to a new Wall Street Journal report, Stranger Things season 4 is Netflix’s most expensive season yet. Each episode is reportedly budgeted at $30 million. Stranger Things’ previously reported episode budgets were less than $10 million per episode in season 3. Netflix has not confirmed the series’ reported price tag, but costs could have risen due to the series’ lengthy production schedule and potential salary increases for its stars.

Stranger Things season 4 is said to have a much larger budget, with each episode costing $30 million. After a hiatus following the release of Season 3 in 2020, Netflix’s hit sci-fi series will return in 2022. Stranger Things Season 4 will be released in two parts, the first on May 27 and the second on July 1. The strategy comes as Netflix prepares to end one of its most popular original series, Eleven, with season 5 wrapping up the current storyline.

Game of Thrones episodes cost up to $15 million each, while Marvel Studios upped the ante with its Disney+ shows, with Loki, WandaVision, and others reportedly costing $20-$25 million per episode. Stranger Things season 4 may be the most expensive per-episode show ever made, but given Prime Video’s The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power’s nearly $500M budget for the first season, it won’t last long.

However, Netflix’s significant investment is understandable. Stranger Things has become the streaming service’s most recognizable franchise, and fans are eager to see what season 4 has in store. Viewers are eager to see Eleven’s journey to regaining her powers, discover what happened to Hopper, and see how the Stranger Things team as a whole defeats Vecna.

Let’s see if spending this much money can help Netflix regain subscribers. To get the latest updates, keep an eye on Thirsty.
