Amir Khan has amassed an impressive 34-6 record in his professional boxing career. The famed fighter has competed in several weight classes and is a former Olympic silver medalist. Most people wouldn’t think to mess with someone with that pedigree on the street.

That is exactly what happened during a scary recent incident in East London. A global crime wave targeting celebrities continued as Amir Khan and his wife, Faryal Makhdoom were leaving from a dinner date. The couple was approached by two men. One pointed a gun at Khan’s head and another brandished a firearm from afar before asking the former champion for his watch.

Amir addressed the incident on social media. He noted that fortunately, nobody was hurt. Khan expressed his gratitude that he and his wife are both safe.

“Just had my watch taken off me at gun point in East London, Leyton. I crossed the road with Faryal, luckily she was few steps behind me. 2 men ran to me, he asked for my watch whist having a gun pointed in my face. The main thing is we’re both safe.”

Amir Khan lost his most recent bout against Kell Brook in February. His professional career has spanned nearly two decades since his debut in 2005. No amount of in-ring preparation could have prepared him for such a horrific moment.

Luckily, Amir and Faryal were unharmed during the hold-up. Khan lost a $100,000 Franck Muller watch, but he walked away with his life. The safety of his family is far more important to Amir Khan, who is lucky things didn’t escalate.
