It’s been five years since Colin Kaepernick has played in the NFL. Fans have been wondering if he is ever coming back. Kaepernick himself desires to make a return, he just hasn’t been given the opportunity.

Kaepernick appeared for an interview with TMZ where he spoke about returning to the field. He threw his last pass as a member of the 49ers in 2016 and has been wishing his way back since.

During the interview, Kaepernick expressed that he just wants to play football in the League to the extent that he doesn’t mind signing up as a backup quarterback. He’s just looking for a chance to play.

“I just need that opportunity to walk through the door,” Kaepernick said

The 34-year-old was then asked if he’d be willing to take a minimized role in the league. Surprisingly, in his response he said that he is ready for that as well, if it provides him the opportunity to play.

“I know I have to find my way back in. So, if I have to come in as a backup, that’s fine,” Kaepernick told the outlet.

He continued, “But that’s not where I’m staying. And when I prove that I’m a starter, I want to be able to step on the field as such. I just need that opportunity to walk through the door.”

Kap doesn’t have a contract yet despite making it clear several times that he is ready to play. We have to wonder how much money he has left, but his name will always draw a pretty penny with speaking engagements.

Colin had some legal problems with NFL in the past. Not to mention his controversial protest of taking-a-knee which was frowned by many. This is part of the reason why any NFL franchise is hesitant to approach him with a deal. We will just have to wait and see what future holds for him.
